ARTs East New York presents “ARTsPLOTION” a concert for the arts in a
response to the ongoing gun violence in the East New York section of
Brooklyn.

On Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 3-6pm ARTs East New York will host
their first ever “ARTsPLOTION” event, a free concert for the arts in a
response to the ongoing gun violence in the community. The event will
take place within the East New York neighborhood located at George
Gershwin JHS, 800 Van Siclen Avenue. “ARTsPLOTION” offers a unique
opportunity to view local youth visual artist, teen poets,
professional dance performances and independent film screenings. These
artists will come together to bring attention to the gun violence that
is shattering the East New York community. Performers include Mike
Lunapiena, a Cellist/Composer/Teacher, “The Hand” a local African
dance company, the “Roza Contemporary Dance Company” lead by Israeli
-born choreographer Shani Karni Aduculesi, “Lorenzo Latin Dance
Studio” and Brazilian dance lead by Nao Yamada with Millennium dance
company. ARTsPLOTION will also showcase two independent film
screenings, a documentary “Future” produced by Mya Baker and “War for
Your Soul” directed by filmmaker and public speaker Reginald Bullock.
A special tribute will be given to East New York angel Sammy Jackson,
a neighborhood role model that passed on this year. This entire event
is to be aired on BCAT (Brooklyn Community Access Television) late
winter 2010.
